Cameron heads up our Construction Law team as well as the Dispute Resolution team. He is well versed in the standard form construction contracts and provides training to construction professionals from beginners to experienced users.

He has worked on significant infrastructure projects in which he has assisted clients with the day-to-day contractual commercial management of the contract as well as their claims management process and dispute resolution through adjudications and arbitrations.

Cam has also advised on front-end negotiation and drafting of commercial terms and contract data and has extensive experience in the following contracts:

  • NEC3 and NEC4;
  • The FIDIC Suite 1999 and 2017;
  • JBCC; and
  • GCC 2010 and 2015.

 

Cam’s experience includes:

  • NEC3 ECC Option B – Acting for a contractor on the Tippler 3 Project in which the contractor was successful in adjudications to the value of R260 million.
  • FIDIC Red Book 1999 – Acting for the JV Civils Contractor at the Medupi and Kusile Coal Power Station for claims of R500 million and R900 million respectively. 
  • FIDIC Yellow Book 1999 – Acting for the subcontractor for the construction of the PJFF at the Medupi and Kusile Coal Power Station involving complex delay and disruption and loss of productivity claims.
  • NEC3 ECC Option A – An extension to an open cast mine dispute with a quantum of R180 million which involved adjudications and arbitrations.
  • NEC3 ECC Option A – Drafting and negotiating the contract for the Employer for the designing, procurement and installation of a Land Fill Gas Scrubber and Flaring System.
  • NEC3 TSC – Drafting and negotiating the contract for the servicing of the Boilers at Medupi Coal Power Station on behalf of the OEM.
  • NEC3 Option B – Advising and overseeing the contract management for an extension to an oxygen production plant.
  • JBCC 2007 – Acting for main contractor on various building disputes between contractor and employer as well as defending claims from subcontractors
